Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) took the provisional scratch in SS5 of the Rally of Portugal by completing the 18,78km of Gois in 12'13''2. Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) was the closest, 6 tenths behind. Ott Tänak (Toyota) followed more than 2 seconds behind, ahead of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) and Sébastien Loeb (Hyundai). Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) was further back with almost 6 seconds behind while Kris Meeke failed by more than 7 seconds.

Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) encountered mechanical problems forcing him to stop for almost 4 minutes. The Welshman was able to repair, but he greatly disrupted the race of Esapekka Lappi (Citroën) caught in the dust. The Finn lost a minute. Citroën should ask for a fixed time.

Ott Tänak retains the lead of the Rally Portugal with almost 9 seconds ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala. Teemu Suninen took 3rd place almost 6 seconds ahead of Kris Meeke. Sébastien Ogier climbs to 5th place, 2 seconds ahead of Thierry Neuville. Gus Greensmith is in 7th place ahead of Esapekka Lappi and Elfyn Evans.

Suninen improves the benchmark by 6 tenths and climbs onto the provisional podium with almost 6 seconds ahead of Meeke. “It’s very good but we’ll see for the next SS. »

Suninen remains a little more than 2 seconds ahead of Ogier in the last sector. Sordo is a few tenths behind the reference in the first partial.

Latvala failed 5s behind Ogier, despite everything regaining 1″6 from Meeke. The Finn nevertheless loses more than 3 seconds on Tänak and is now almost 9 seconds behind the leader. “We lost time because I was afraid of destroying my tires. I will be able to attack in the next SS. »

Evans is on the radio with his engineers. The M-Sport driver suffered a mechanical problem. The Hyundais are therefore not the only ones to suffer in the Portuguese ES.

The Welshman managed to restart the engine after losing the accelerator and got back on track.

Neuville ranks 2″3 off Ogier’s provisional scratch. “The balance is not right at all,” says the Belgian to Gilsoul. “I had a very good SS and I did what I could but it’s not perfect,” adds the Hyundai driver on the microphone.

Evans is at a standstill in the special! The M-Sport driver was in 5th position, less than 5 seconds behind his teammate Suninen.

Rovanperä lost around 40s in the 4th SS. It is Kopecky who is now leading the WRC 2 Pro with 11 seconds ahead of the Finn.
