Monza Rally 2021
WRC2 general classification:
In WRC3, Frenchman Yohan Rossel lost 2″1 to Kajetan Kajetanowicz but preserved first place overall by 4″5.
Elfyn Evans (Toyota) is very comfortable in the Monza park (Italy). The Welshman takes a nice margin over Sébastien Ogier (Toyota, +2″1) in Cinturato 2. This means that positions are swapped at the front of the rally. Elfyn Evans is now ahead of Sébastien Ogier by 1″3. As it stands, however, the Frenchman would still be crowned.
In WRC2 the ranking is also turned upside down. Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda) lost almost 2 minutes after changing a flat tire. Entered for the Teams championship, Nikolay Gryazin (Skoda) hit two barriers and opened the axle of the right rear wheel.
Ranking of the special:
General classification :
Nikolay Gryazin (Skoda) suffered an accident! The Skoda drives like a crab! The Russian will not take the lead in WRC2!
Bulacia: “Maybe Huttunen will overtake me at the head of WRC2 because I made a mistake and had to go into reverse. »
Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda) stopped to change a flat tire! The Norwegian will lose precious time on Nikolay Gryazin (Skoda) in WRC2!
Teemu Suninen (Hyundai) and Gus Greensmith (Ford) both finished 10″ behind Thierry Neuville.
This special is not well negotiated by Dani Sordo (Hyundai). The Spaniard narrowly missed the scratch during the first pass; however, he now concedes 5″1 to his teammate Thierry Neuville. The Belgian is now 11″ behind him in the general classification. “With these tires I'm happy, I can go faster. » This does not fit with this time...
Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) finished with the 4th provisional time, 4″5 behind Thierry Neuville.
Kalle Rovanperä is putting no pressure on himself and continues to take his time to secure the Manufacturers' title for Toyota.
Thierry Neuville takes the best provisional time by 4 tenths! “It was a good stage but I got caught in the wet grass coming out of a corner. We lost a second in the story. I'm trying several settings on the car. »
Elfyn Evans will take the lead in the Monza Rally! The Welshman gained 2″1 over Sébastien Ogier and now has a 1″3 lead! “It's difficult to know if you attack enough or not on these kinds of stages. »
Ogier: “I think we had a problem with the brakes, the car was braking throughout the previous stage. It went better this time. »
The special stage passes the modern circuit as well as the historic speed ring in various places.
We are approaching the penultimate special of the day. This is the second passage through Cinturato in the heart of the Monza park (14,49 km). Two hours earlier, Elfyn Evans had set the scratch time while Sébastien Ogier had been handicapped by sweeping dead leaves and gravel sections.
