Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) struck a major blow by taking the scratch in Svullrya, SS7 of the Swedish Rally. By completing the 24,88km in 13'04''0, the Belgian took almost 18 seconds from his direct rival Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota). The Finn ranked behind Kris Meeke (Citroën), closest to the reference with 12 seconds behind, Sébastien Ogier (Ford) and Hayden Paddon (Hyundai).

Ott Tänak (Ford) finished almost 22 seconds from the scratch, ahead of Dani Sordo (Hyundai), Craig Breen (Citroën), Elfyn Evans (Ford) and Stéphane Lefebvre (DS 3).

Thierry Neuville now has a 24s lead over Jari-Matti Latvala before entering the last special stage of the day. Kris Meeke follows at 41s with a lead of almost 9s over Sébastien Ogier. Ott Tänak fell to 5th place, a tenth behind the reigning champion. Hayden Paddon returned to 12s from the top 5. Dani Sordo remains 7th ahead of Craig Breen.

Paddon sets the 4th fastest time, one second behind Ogier and more than 17 seconds behind Neuville. The Hyundai driver is 12s behind Tänak in 5th place. “My settings helped me for the 2nd pass. I will be confident for tomorrow. »

Meeke is the closest to Neuville, almost 12 seconds behind. The Citroën driver climbs into 3rd position with a 9s lead over Ogier. “I have a lot of understeer, but the stage was quite satisfactory. »
