This is a nice helping hand fromAlpine. While Daniel Ricciardo tested positive for coronavirus, McLaren could count on Oscar Piastri if its driver withdraws from the Bahrain Grand Prix in a week. The French team has indeed announced that the Woking structure could rely on its reserve driver if necessary.

« In order to offer maximum opportunities to our young talent, we have noted that McLaren could call the reserve driver ofAlpine F1 during the Grands Prix during which one of their drivers could not drive. Oscar will remain fully contractually bound by Alpine, and we will have priority over its services »

The mid-session mark has been reached. Red Bull dominates the timesheet with Verstappen and Pérez in the first two places. Following behind Vettel, Zhou and Leclerc more than 1 second from the lead.
