Gasly: “We worked well this weekend. The improvements have been profitable, there have been many. We'll have to finish the work, but things are going well for the moment. We will start with the medium tires as planned because the strategies will be complex. »
Leclerc: “The Mercedes were still able to push their engines a little more in Q3. It was the best we could do. »
Hamilton: » I made a mistake on my first lap and was just a few thousandths short of taking pole. It's fantastic to ride here, it's the best crowd. »
Bottas: “I had a very good first lap and I should have improved in my second attempt. It feels good to be back on pole, I missed it since Barcelona. »
This is the 10th career pole for Bottas (Mercedes) and his 4th of the season.
Bottas (Mercedes) maintains pole position by 6 thousandths over his teammate Hamilton! Leclerc (Ferrari) follows just 8 hundredths behind. Verstappen (Red Bull) completes the second row less than 2 tenths ahead of his teammate Gasly by the same gap. Vettel (Ferrari) remains 6th ahead of Ricciardo (Renault), Norris (McLaren), Albon (Toro Rosso) and Hülkenberg (Renault).
The other drivers came out of the pits for the last attempt.
Norris (McLaren) sets the 8th fastest time ahead of Hülkenberg (Renault). Albon (Toro Rosso) sets the last time in the standings.
Leclerc (Ferrari) indicated that he had made a mistake during his first attempt.
Norris (McLaren) and Albon (Toro Rosso) took to the track while the other cars were in the garage.
Bottas (Mercedes) takes provisional pole in 1'25"093, 2 tenths ahead of his teammate Hamilton. Verstappen (Red Bull) follows almost 4 tenths ahead of Leclerc (Ferrari) and Gasly (Red Bull). Vettel (Ferrari) is only 6th ahead of the Renaults of Ricciardo and Hülkenberg.
Hamilton missed his first attempt while Norris (McLaren) and Albon (Toro Rosso) remained in the pits.
Confirmation of the chonos in Q2 for Ferrari. The Scuderia drivers chose soft tires to start the race.
Q3 begins for 10 minutes. The Mercedes immediately took to the track.

Magnussen: “It’s worrying to see that Melbourne’s package is more effective than mine. I can't explain this lack of performance but it's worrying. »
Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) set the best time in Q2 with a time of 1'25''546, a tenth ahead of Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) and almost 3 tenths over Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes). Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) ranked 5th between the REd Bulls of Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly. Lando Norris (McLaren) finished 8th between the Renaults of Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hülkenberg. Alexander Albon (Toro Rosso) qualifies with a tenth lead over Antonio Giovinazzi.
Romain Grosjean (Haas) failed to qualify for Q3 of the British GP. The Frenchman finished 14th behind the Alfa Romeos of Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Räikkönen, as well as the McLaren of Carlos Saine Jr. Sergio Pérez (Racing Point) completed the ranking.
