Ferrari dominates the GTE Am, thanks to the No. 458 Clearwater Racing 61 Italia, and a new benchmark set by Rob Bell in 3'56"827. The No. 98 Aston Martin of Lauda – Lamy – Dalla Lana prevents the Ferrari double by taking second place ahead of the No. 458 AF Corse F55 Italia of Griffin – Cameron – Scott. Manu Collard, François Perrodo and Rui Aguas placed the #458 AF Corse F83 Italia in fourth position ahead of the #7 Larbre Compétition Corvette C50.R.
In GTE Pro, thanks to a last effort from Dirk Müller, Ford takes the lead with the GT n°68, credited with a best lap of 3'51″185 ahead of the sister car n°69 of Briscoe – Westbrook – Dixon . The Ferrari 488 – AF Corse n°51 of Bruni – Calado – Pier Guidi, which led the debates for a long time, finally failed in third position.
Christophe Tinseau was responsible for placing the #84 Morgan of SRT41 by Oak Racing, which occupies the 56th stand, in 30th place in the general classification.
The No. 05 G-Drive Racing Oreca 26 dominated the LMP2 class. It was René Rast who set the best times to set a benchmark of 3'36''605.
The Alpine are the closest, the A460 of Cheng-Tung-Panciatici clocking in half a second ahead of the No. 36 of Lapierre-Menezes-Richelmi by a tenth. The No. 05 Orecz 44 from Manor entrusted to Merhi-Graves-Rao is in fourth place ahead of the No. 31 Ligier from ESM thanks to a performance by Luis Felipe Derani in the final moments.
The No. 57 Chevrolet of Team AAI of Mark Patterson is reported stopped before the Porsche corners.
The Audis were in more difficulty. Having left late in the session, notably following the damage suffered to the front axle of the R18 n°8 following a passage over a kerb, the prototypes at the Rings showed a clear withdrawal against their rivals. The No. 8 of Duval-Di Grassi-Jarvis and the No. 7 of Tréluyer-Fässler-Lotterer are three seconds behind.
The Rebellions follow more than six seconds behind the first LMP1-H. The No. 13 R-One of Tuscher-Imperatori-Kraihamer precedes the No. 12 of Prost-Heidfeld-Piquet Jr. The CLM01/P1 by Kolles Racing of Trummer-Webb-Kaffer did not run following the leak of oil causing a fire to start during free trials.
Neel Jani set the best time in the first qualifying session for the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the wheel of the No. 2 Porsche. The Swiss completed a lap in 3'19''733 and was almost half a second ahead of Timo Bernhard's sister car.
The Toyotas are in contact. Stéphane Sarrazin brought the No. 050 TS6 Hybrid to within one second of provisional pole, while the second Japanese LMP1 followed two seconds behind.

New best time in GTE Pro for Müller in the #69 Ford GT in 3’51″185!
As the checkered flag was presented to the drivers, Derani set the 6th fastest time in the LMP2 class in the no.31 ESM Ligier.
Müller's No. 68 Ford is getting closer to its sisters by returning to fourth position in GTE Pro between No. 67 and 66. 3'51"743 for Müller on his last pass.
Frédéric Makowiecki spins with the No. 911 Porsche 92 RSR, coming out of the last chicane of the circuit. The Frenchman can leave without damage.
Rast improved the LMP2 benchmark time with a time of 3'36"605 at the wheel of the No. 05 G-Drive Oreca 26. The first one Alpine, the A460 No. 35 currently piloted by Cheng, is now more than half a second behind.

22 thousandths separate the No. 69 Ford GT from the No. 488 Ferrari 51 – AF Corse which had for several minutes held the best provisional time of this first qualifying practice session.
Ford comes to break Ferrari's domination in GTE Pro. Ryan Briscoe upsets the hierarchy by taking the best time with the No. 69 Ford GT in 3'51″497.
Duval lifted the #8 Audi to 6th place ahead of the two Rebellions. The R18 is still 6″5 from the reference.
Sarrazin replaces Kobayashi in the No. 6 Toyota. Will the Frenchman manage to set the pace of the Porsches less than 21 minutes from the checkered flag?
