Rich Energy claims to have terminated its sponsorship contract with Haas

We would be tempted to say that it is a bit like the hospital making fun of charity. Rich Energy, whose business model and origin of funds are as intriguing as the hair look of its whimsical and bearded CEO William Storey since his arrival on the radars of the Formula 1, announced that it had stopped its sponsorship activities with the Haas F1 Team

The energy drink brand announced it via its Twitter account, of which we never really know if the content is legitimate as it is outrageous, not to say ridiculous.

« Today, Rich Energy terminated its contract with the Haas F1 Team due to disappointing results, tweeted the company based in Richmond in the United Kingdom but whose products are manufactured in Austria. We aim to beat Red Bull so it is unacceptable to finish behind Williams in Austria. Furthermore, politics and political correctness in F1 also represent obstacles to the development of our society. We wish the team the best ».

Haas has not yet commented on the latest outing from its supposed ex-title sponsor. After nine rounds out of 21 this season, the US team occupies 9th place in the Manufacturers' standings with 16 points.

Despite a VF-19 engine Ferrari promising in winter testing and in Melbourne at the start of the season, Gene Haas' team and its drivers Kevin Magnussen et Romain Grosjean fail to get the best out of it, in particular because of their inability to operate the 2019 Pirelli tires. The Dane, however, qualified 5th, ahead of one of the two Red Bulls at Spielberg two weeks ago.

Earlier this season, Rich Energy was also noted for having been found guilty of plagiarizing the logo of the bicycle brand Whyte Bykes by the British courts. As a result, the energy drink brand had to remove the stylized deer head from its visual identity.

In the Silverstone paddock earlier this Wednesday, we met several members of the Haas team and they were all still dressed in Rich Energy colors... In short, more to come!
