Le MotoGP returns to Europe to compete in a long series of meetings, the first of which takes place in Jerez. The Spanish Grand Prix will see eleven of the twenty-two drivers entered perform at home, which promises to liven up the debates.

Free Practice 2:

  • The EL2 session took place on a wet track, after the drops fell in the morning in Jerez, which animated the Moto3 and Moto3 sessions, where there were numerous falls.
  • While the track dries slowly, the drivers do not take any risks, and the first times are fifteen seconds slower than the day before.
  • At the end of the session, the sky appeared threatening again, and Marc Marquez set the best time in 1:48.183. Fabio Di Giannantonio and Francesco Bagnaia complete the top-3, with number 1 five tenths behind. The French rank 17th and 18th respectively.

Qualification 1:

  • Dominated by the three KTMs from the factory team, the start of Q1 was contested to say the least. Before the checkered flag, however, it was Franco Morbidelli who took the lead with a lap in 1:47.887. Brad Binder also manages to qualify for Q2, thanks to a mark 62 thousandths slower.
  • Johann Zarco did not come far from a place in Q2. In his last effort, the Frenchman failed two tenths behind Brad Binder and finished third. He will therefore start thirteenth in the weekend's races. fabio quartararo finishes 13th, and will start from 23rd position.

Qualification 2:

  • Brad Binder was quick to take control of the session, probably more acclimated to this track with mixed conditions thanks to his time in Q1. The South African's first significant time put him in front with a lap in 1:47.807. Behind, Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia are respectively two and seven tenths behind.
  • While trying to improve, many drivers made mistakes. Pedro Acosta thus fell into the gravel trap, while Marco Bezzecchi and Marc Marquez managed to keep control of their machine.
  • In front of the checkered flag, Marc Marquez clocked an impressive time of 1:46.773. The Spaniard takes pole position in front of his home crowd, his first since the 2023 Portuguese Grand Prix.
  • The Ducatis of Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin complete the top 3, more than three tenths behind. The reigning world champion, Francesco Bagnaia, never really found his feet in these conditions and qualified seventh.
