Fe – Di Grassi: Vettel and Hamilton would struggle

Lucas di Grassi is preparing to compete in the Paris ePrix which will be held this Saturday April 23 at the Invalides. The leader of the Championship stressed on CNN that the Formula e were very difficult single-seaters to drive, particularly with their electric motor and their heavy weight, and that drivers such as Sebastian Vettel et Lewis Hamilton, even though they have seven world titles between them, would struggle to adapt.

“They are excellent drivers, undoubtedly the most gifted of our generation and perhaps even of history, but if they tried Formula E they would find it complicated”, assured the Abt Audi Sport driver. “They should familiarize themselves with the tracks because they are all new and they would not be able to practice there because they are in the heart of the cities. »

“I think I'll invite them to run, even if it's just for one race to see how they do. I'm sure they would give me a hard time, but it wouldn't be easy for them either.", added the Brazilian.

These comments were enough to force Lucas di Grassi to explain himself at a press conference in the Paris ePrix paddock.

« I said it and I meant it… I'm not saying they wouldn't succeed, but the car is very different (from a F1), Formula e is very difficult to drive, the weekend format (on a single day) is not comparable to any other discipline. They would need time. As we have seen, many drivers do not succeed in Formula e. The 18 drivers on track are all very good and the competition is very fair”, added the Championship leader.
