Fe – DS Virgin Racing optimistic for Buenos Aires

DS Virgin Racing was unsuccessful at the Punta del Este (Uruguay) ePrix last December. While Sam Bird had taken third place on the grid, the Briton retired following battery problems. The seasoned manufacturer's team has worked on the reliability of its electric single-seaters in preparation for the next event which takes place this February 6 in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

“We arrive well prepared in Buenos Aires. We learned a lot from our battery issues in Punta del Este,” underlined Sam Bird, fourth in the Championship, 38 points behind the leader Sébastien Buemi after his disappointment, which took seventh place last year on the Argentinian circuit. “My performance on this track a year ago also gives me confidence. Without a mishap in the pit lane, I believe we would have won. I finished seventh, but I'm aiming much better for Saturday. »

Jean-Éric Vergne can also be optimistic. The old pilot Toro Rosso, who remains on a seventh place obtained at the Punta del Este ePrix, finished sixth in Buenos Aires with the Andretti team.

“I have good memories of Buenos Aires,” commented the Frenchman. ?I would even say that it?s one of my favorite circuits. It worked well for me last year and that makes me want to get the car back even more. Especially since with the work carried out by the technical team and mentioned by Sam, we should take a step forward compared to the last two races. »

DS Virgin Racing hopes to progress to the Teams Championship where it occupies fourth place, 22 points behind Dragon Racing. “Since the round in Uruguay, the team has focused on analyzing the data collected during racing and testing”, underlined Alex Tai, director of DS Virgin Racing. “We think we understand the dynamics at play on the new cars better and we look forward to being in Argentina to put this learning into practice. We cannot afford to relax and I am leading the team in this direction. I have high hopes for Buenos Aires and look forward to seeing our work bear fruit. »
