Fe – Sam Bird winner in Buenos Aires

Author of his first career pole position in Formula e earlier today, the British Sam bird brilliantly converted his performance during the Buenos Aires ePrix in Argentina by imposing his car du D.S. Virgin Racing for the first time this season.

Bird led the entire event, initially controlling a trio made up of Nicolas Cheers (Renault e.dams), António Félix da Costa (Team Aguri) and Lucas di Grassi (Audi ABT Schaeffler).

If Félix Da Costa is going to pass Prost for second place, it is the Portuguese who will be the first victim of the race, after having stopped his car on the track, just before the peloton dives into the pit lane to proceed to the change of car.

A passage to the pits which will cost Nicolas Prost dearly, who lost precious time, thus allowing his teammate Sébastien Buemi to emerge in fourth position. The Swiss, who started last after an error in qualifying, led the start of the race in the peloton, moving up to seventh position on the 15th lap.

After the intervention of the Safety Car to evacuate the car of Félix da Costa, the end of this ePrix will be animated by the rise of Buemi over the leading duo Bird? di Grassi. The Brazilian could do nothing to contain the Swiss, but the latter came up against the stubborn resistance of Bird who gave DS Virgin Racing its first victory of the season.

With his second place, Buemi extends his championship lead four points behind di Grassi, third in Argentina. Stéphane Sarrazin (Venturi) took fourth place ahead of Nicolas Prost, who made a mistake at turn 4 on his lap exiting the pits, an error which undoubtedly cost the Renault e.dams driver a better result.

Loïc duval (Dragon Racing) finished sixth ahead of Nick Heidfeld (Mahindra Racing), Robin Frijns (Amlin Andretti), Oliver Turvey (NEXTEV China Racing) and Bruno Senna (Mahindra Racing).

Victim of food poisoning the previous night and uncertain weather for the race, Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Virgin Racing) made a good start to the race, moving up the hierarchy at the start of the ePrix. But the Frenchman was unable to achieve the same performance as Sébastien Buemi and finished the event in 11th position. The next round will take place in Mexico City at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on March 12.
