The Porsche, all dressed in roses in Tokyo, narrowly missed the podium at the first E-Prix organized in Japan, won by Maximilian Günther (Maserati).

Antonio Félix da Costa was in contention throughout the entire event to get on the box, but lost at the end of the race to defending champion Jake Dennis (Andretti).

« Losing a podium so close to the checkered flag is obviously disappointing, whispered the Portuguese after the checkerboard. When I tried to go for second place, I was forced into the barrier. Overall it was a great race. We have implemented a solid strategy. At the end of the day, we bring back important points from Tokyo. »

Porsche will be able to console itself by leaving the Japanese capital with first place in the Championship. Fifth, Pascal Wehrlein inherits the leader's chair after the reclassification of Norman Nato (Andretti), a time penalized, to sixth place.

« Although I took the lead in the drivers' standings, I am not entirely satisfied with my race, declares the German at the 39 Grands Prix of Formula 1. I lost positions due to a few incidents. Otherwise, a podium would have been possible today. Our qualifying wasn't as good, which made it difficult to progress in the race. Despite everything, we won important points. »

« The first race of Formula E in Japan was a success, explains Florian Modlinger, director of the official Porsche Formula E program. The dedicated fans were extremely receptive to this exceptionally organized event. We are very looking forward to racing here again in the future. With the fourth and fifth places of António and Pascal, we achieved a good overall result and scored important points in all rankings. We could have done even better, but Pascal lost places after contact on the track and had to fight to move up the rankings. António's attempt to grab second place in the final stage did not work. Nevertheless, we are satisfied. It is an excellent base for the double meeting in Misano in two weeks. Porsche can be proud of having placed four cars in the top 6. »

Next meeting for Formula E on April 13 and 14 in Misano (Italy).
