Self-sacrifice pays off for Felix Rosenqvist. The Swedish driver defended his skin to keep his seat in IndyCar with Arrow training McLaren SP throughout the second half of the 2022 season, and it took a lot out of him; it was renewed for the 2023 campaign, as announced by the American team this Wednesday 14 september.

The former champion of Formula 3 Europe arrived in IndyCar with Chip Ganassi Racing, before being transferred to Arrow McLaren SP in 2021. A first year to forget, marked by a violent accident in Detroit, was followed by a more valiant second season, marked by a arrival at the foot of the podium of the Indianapolis 500, and above all great consistency in the last third of the season (5 top 10 in 6 races).

Felix Rosenqvist will thus remain Pato O'Ward's teammate (extended until 2025) and will share the stand with Alexander Rossi, from the Andretti clan. “There is no better way to approach the offseason than with this news, rejoices the 30-year-old Swede. I love this team and am very excited to continue working with all the incredible people I have gotten to know over the past two seasons.

With everything the team has in store, the relationship with Pato and the addition of Alex Rossi, we are going to bring our best work plan for 2023. This will be the most exciting season for me so far. »

Felix Rosenqvist is also benefiting from the outcome of the legal imbroglio between Alex Palou, Chip Ganassi Racing and McLaren. The 2021 IndyCar champion, first announced with Zak Brown's IndyCar team in 2022, was retained by the CGR following a lengthy court process. The third and final seat of Arrow McLaren SP then became free again, thus facilitating the task of the boss of the British brand.
