The Juncos Hollinger Racing driver was, however, quite angry at the end of the session, particularly against Jack Harvey (Dale Coyne). Embarrassed on several occasions, the Frenchman expressed his frustration by tackling Harvey at the exit of the second turn.

The two cars came into contact, and Grosjean immediately went to apologize at the end of the session, also to Alexander Red (McLaren), who was bothered by the altercation between the two men.

Romain Grosjean (Juncos Hollinger n°77), 6e Free Practice 1 in Barber: " Everything went very well. However, it's hot today. I was surprised how good the car was from the first run. I think we then improved on the second one. I was the fastest on hard tires. I thought I could have had a very good lap on the softs, like everyone else, but I had traffic on my first laps. After a quick pit change, I came back and did my fastest lap.

I'm happy with the car this Friday, but things can still change on Saturday and Sunday. I am impressed by the way the team works during the weekend. We know what we have and what we don't have. I enjoy this and it seems to work pretty well on the track!

I apologized at the end of the session [to Jack Harvey], it was my fault. I had been stuck for four laps. So I complained "the French way" by waving my hand but I couldn't turn the steering wheel with the other. We touched each other, which embarrasses me a little, but it's the truth. Even Alexander Rossi didn't believe me, but it's the truth.

I wanted to take him off to show him I wasn't happy, but I never wanted to touch him. I just couldn't turn the steering wheel, so I went to apologize. I'm not very proud of this moment, but I am much more proud of our session in general! »
