The tandem of the No. 11 Honda from Chip Ganassi Racing is complete. While New Zealander Marcus Armstrong had been confirmed for all urban and road rounds, Japanese Takuma Sato was chosen to replace him on the ovals throughout the 2023 season.
With 7 seasons in Formula 1 (from 2002 to 2008), 13 in IndyCar (since 2010) crowned by 6 victories, 14 podiums and 10 pole positions, the Nippon was the man for the job for the American team, 14 times world champion in IndyCar: “ It’s an incredible opportunity to have Takuma Sato in our No. 11 car on the ovals in 2023, says Mike Hull, general manager of Chip Ganassi Racing.
