Théo Pourchaire with McLaren in IndyCar: “A golden opportunity”

As announced on AUTOhebdo.fr, the French driver will drive at Long Beach this weekend, and probably at Barber the following week, on behalf of McLaren. Even without prior preparation, the Habs are delighted with this opportunity that fell from the sky, following the package of David Malukas.

After a first race in Super Formula, you are here in the United States to make your big debut in IndyCar. How did the opportunity present itself?

It was quite unexpected. I received the call from McLaren when going to Magny-Cours to do Lamera Cup debuts for sponsors (report AH 2456. Editor's note). It was a really relaxing day, and all of a sudden, McLaren wanted me to drive for them at the Long Beach Grand Prix (April 21, Editor's note) to replace an injured driver (David Malukas, Editor's note).
