H+5: Tom Kristensen in the tire piles

The fourth hour began with a change of leaders. There Peugeot n°1, then driven by Anthony Davidson, having taken the advantage over number 2. But the gap between the two sisters remains extremely small. Behind, the No. 4 Peugeot of the Oreca Matmut team is still in the top three.

At Audi, the first hard blow has arrived. Rushing through the corners at full speed Porsche, Tom Kristensen was surprised by the #79 BMW while idling. Wanting to avoid it, the Danish driver crashed his car into the piles of tires. Subsequently managing to bring the car back to the pits, the eight-time winner of the event handed over the wheel to the Italian Rinaldo Capello who returned in eighth position.

It was Romain Dumas, at the wheel of the No. 9 Audi, who took over in fourth position. The Frenchman is ahead of André Lotterer, aboard the No. 8 Audi, and the first car powered by a gasoline engine, namely the Lola-Aston Martin n°007 (Primate-Fernandez-Mücke).

In LMP2, it is still the HPD of Strakka Racing which dominates ahead of that of Highcroft Racing. Currently at the wheel of the No. 40 Ginette-Zytek, Warren Hughes is third. The Norma, for its part, was forced to abandon.

Romain Grosjean takes the lead in GT1 with his Ford GT Matech. He is ahead of the two Corvettes from Luc Alphand Aventures with the No. 73 of Jousse-Grégoire-Goueslard preceding the 72 of Maassen-Hart-Policand.

It is in GT2 that the battle for the lead is most competitive. Indeed, depending on the refueling, the Corvette n°64 (Collard-Beretta-Gavin) and the Ferrari of Risi Competizione (Melo-Kaffer-Bruni) exchange leadership. The threesomes Magnussen-O?Connel-Garcia and Lieb-Lietz-Henzler, respectively at the wheel of the second Corvette and the No. 77 Felbermayr Porsche, closely follow the leading duo, as does the Ferrari AF Corse of Fisichella-Alesi-Vilander and the Porsche IMSA (Narac-Pilet-Long). The BMWs have given up, as for the Jaguar, it has already given up.
