Unsurprisingly, almost no change is noted compared to the 1812 km of Qatar. The only modification occurs at Cadillac. The American prototype, fourth in the Qatari event before being disqualified, will only be able to count on two pilots: namely Earl Bamber and Alex Lynn. A possibility already mentioned by the manufacturer before the start of the season and authorized by the regulations on 6-hour races.

The other residents of Chip Ganassi Racing who can claim to complete the trio in Italy, namely Sébastien Bourdais (present in Qatar), Renger van der Zande, Alex Palou and Scott Dixon, will all be in Long Beach this weekend, to compete in a round ofIMSA (Bourdais and van der Zande) or a raceIndyCar (Palou and Dixon).

37 cars will be at the start on the grounds of Ferrari, including the two short stories Peugeot 9X8. This will in fact be the first race for the French prototype with a new tire size and a rear wing. The two Lionesses will also sport a new livery.

In Qatar, Porsche had signed a resounding hat-trick with the victory of the No. 6 co-driven by Kévin Estre, André Lotterer and Laurens Vanthoor ahead of the Hertz Team JOTA No. 12 of Will Stevens, Callum Ilott and Norman Nato and the No. 5 of Matt Campbell, Michael Christensen and Frédéric Makowiecki.
