Thomas Laurent confirmed at Rebellion Racing

After shining on the LM P2 scene in 2017 with the Oreca 07 of Jackie Chan DC Racing, Thomas laurent will move well into the premier category for the 2018-2019 Super-Season of WEC by joining the stable Rebellion Racing.

Announced by the Swiss team during confirmation of his return to LM P1, the Frenchman's signing surprised Jackie Chan DC Racing with whom Thomas Laurent was competing in 2017. David Cheng, boss of the structure, told us that nothing had yet been done (see Ah n°2145).

Today, the doubt no longer remains and it is within the Swiss team that the 19-year-old from Vendée will compete in the 2018-2019 WEC season. As a reminder, Rebellion Racing will also count on Bruno Senna, Mathias Beche, Gustavo Menezes, Neel Jani and André Lotterer, a top-notch squad to face the Toyota Gazoo Racing, SMP Racing, ByKolles Racing, DragonSpeed and TRS Racing Manor.

Winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans in LM P2, Thomas Laurent was unable to win the world title but tried – brilliantly – at driving the Toyota TS050 Hybrid during the Rookie Test in Bahrain.

“Barely three years after my debut in motorsport, I found myself in LM P1, indicates the person concerned. This is a new chapter to write. The car gains 100 hp, will have more aerodynamics and will be lighter. I can't wait to discover it and drive it. »

Appointment is made at the WEC Prologue, on April 6 and 7 at Paul-Ricard, for the first public appearance of Thomas Laurent in his new colors.
