12 Hours of Sebring - EL1: Cadillac double ahead of Porsche

The Cadillacs dominated the first Free Practice session of the 12 Hours of Sebring by signing a one-two finish with the #01 ahead of the #31. Porsche completed the podium in these EL1s.

The 72nd edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring opened this Thursday March 14 with Free Practice 1.
The two Cadillac V-Series.R monopolized the top of the ranking with the No. 01 of Renger van der Zande, Scott Dixon and Sébastien Bourdais in first position ahead of the #31 of Pipo Derani, Jack Aitken and Tom Blomqvist. The gold car (not yellow this weekend) operated by Chip Ganassi Racing set the benchmark in 1:48.279, almost half a second ahead of the No. 31 Action Express Racing.
The first Porsche, the No. 6 of Nick Tandy, Mathieu Jaminet and Frédéric Makowiecki, took third place 0.662 seconds behind. The two Acura ARX-06s took 5th and 6th places with the #10 of Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque, Brendon Hartley ahead of the No. 40 of Jordan Taylor, Louis Delétraz and Colton Herta. The two BMW M Hybrid V8s from Team RLL are more than a second behind, followed by the second official Porsche, the #7 victorious at Daytona, and the #85 from JDC-Miller MotorSports.
For his first outing in the North American championshipEndurance, the Lamborghini SC63 of Matteo Cairoli, Andrea Caldarelli and Romain Grosjean signed the 10th fastest time, more than two and a half seconds behind. The No. 5 Proton Competition customer Porsche (Gianmaria Bruni, Alessio Picariello, Julien Andlauer) did not record a time.
TDS Racing set the best time in LM P2 with the #11 of Steven Thomas, Mikkel Jensen and Hunter McElrea. The No. 3 Lexus RC F GT14 of Jack Hawksworth, Ben Barnicoat and Kyle Kirkwood (Vasser Sullivan) set the benchmark time for the GTD Pro class. The sister car, the No. 12 of Frankie Montecalvo, Parker Thompson and Aaron Telitz, did the same in GTD.
Free Practice 2 of the 12 Hours of Sebring is scheduled for 20:05 p.m. (French time).
