This Sunday, January 28, Josef Newgarden (Porsche Penske Motorsport) has joined big names like Helio Castroneves, Juan Pablo Montoya or simon pagenaud in the list of drivers to have won both the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Daytona.

The American driver, victorious at the Indy 500 in May 2022, also celebrated a success at Daytona less than a year later with his teammates Dane Cameron, Matt Campbell and Felipe Nasr.

“To be honest, it’s a bit of a weird feeling, declared Josef Newgarden in the post-race press conference, attended by AUTOhebdo. I feel like I have added myself to a fantastic group of individuals who have worked together to win. Porsche and Penske share a long history in common and I just feel honored to be able to be here today.

I didn't break the car, that's pretty much what I'm thinking! I used to drive single-seatersIndyCar over the last 12 years. In this sport, you only think about yourself, and here, I feel like I have a family that I'm really proud of. That's what I felt at the end of the race. I could cry just thinking about it. »

Finally, Josef Newgarden does not rule out participation in 24 Hours of Le Mans medium term. “Absolutely, I would love to do that. I am a racing driver. I would like to compete everywhere, like my teammates who are part of the Porsche Penske Motorsport program in Endurance.

It's probably one of the coolest programs in the world that you can be a part of. But yes, one day it would be great to take a trip to Le Mans and try to win.”
