After a thunderous start to the season with victories at the 24 Hours of Daytona and 1812 km of Qatar, Porsche is coming to the 12 Hours of Sebring in the hope of continuing its momentum.

« Our team has gained a lot of confidence on both sides of the Atlantic at the start of the 2024 season, smiles Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport. We cannot afford to rest on our laurels after our successes at Daytona and more recently at the FIA Open WEC in Qatar.

The team, the car and the drivers are at the top of their form – we have clearly demonstrated that. However, Sebring represents a significant challenge. The track characteristics are very different from Daytona or Qatar. Sebring is always a test of endurance for man and machine – nothing comes for free.

We must work with complete focus, be strategically intelligent and do impeccable work. »

Makowiecki as reinforcement

Porsche will trust the trio Dane Cameron, Felipe Nasr and Matt Campbell, all three victorious at Daytona, on the No. 7. On the No. 6, Frédéric Makowiecki will support Nick Tandy and Mathieu Jaminet.

« We had a long break after Daytona, I'm glad things are starting again, declares the latter. Unfortunately, our number 6 car did not have as spectacular a start to the season as its sister car.

We weren't able to finish on the podium and score as many points so we still have a score to settle. Let's hope everything goes well at Sebring.

We will compete knowing that our car and our team are well prepared and in top shape. Now we are ready to reap our well-deserved rewards. »

« We would love to have a say in the overall victory at Sebring again, adds Felipe Nasr. During our test in February, we tested many configuration variations.

This was important and it proved beneficial. The track is famous for its hard bumps. This puts enormous pressure on us, the drivers, and also puts more pressure on the equipment than any other site.

We arrive at Sebring in great shape. Our package is strong, as is our driver crew. I am full of anticipation and confidence. We will approach this next task step by step and with full concentration. »

Two more Porsche 963s will be at the start in Florida for the second round of the 2024 season of theIMSA : the No. 5 of Proton Competition with Gianmaria Bruni, Alessio Picariello and Julien Andlauer as well as the No. 85 of JDC-Miller MotorSports of Tijmen van der Helm, Richard Westbrook and Phil Hanson.

The German manufacturer's last victory in the general classification of the 12 Hours of Sebring dates back to 2008 with the trio Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Emmanuel Collard in a Porsche RS Spyder.

The first Free Practice session will take place on Thursday from 15:05 p.m. (French time).
