In an interview with David Land this week, Mario Andretti revealed that a formal agreement had been reached so that Renault becomes the team's engine supplier in Formula 1. But that's not all. After the F1 plans, the former driver indicated, again to the American journalist, that discussions with Alpine to set up a program in IMSA existed.
« We have many friends in the world of Formula 1, he argued. It's like a big family or something. Michael had discussions with Alpine to set up a program in IMSA. There are a lot of variables at play and everything works perfectly. We rely on good people who keep us informed."
Here's another bombshell from @Marioandretti.
@FollowAndretti and @AlpineF1Team are ALSO working on fielding a sports car program.

Absent in Endurance for more than 10 years, the structure based in Indianapolis has had a certain history with the discipline. In association with Team Green before it was renamed Andretti Green Racing in 2003 after the arrival of Andretti as majority shareholder, the American team had participated in the American Le Mans Series in 2007 and 2008 by entering an Acura ARX-01 in LMP2 with among others Franck Montagny and Tony Kanaan.
If nothing has yet been confirmed, Andretti Autosport's intentions are very clear. Ambitious, the team led by Michael Andretti wishes to expand its sector of activity to the biggest championships and this could involve an arrival in Formula 1 and IMSA in the coming years.
