We haven't seen them since the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2016. The Flying Lizard team returns in IMSA for the Long Beach Grand Prix, which will take place on April 19 and April 20. The American team will be present on the grid with a Aston Martin GT3 Evo which will wear the No. 28 with Elias Sabo and Andy Lee at the wheel in the GTD category.

Originally from Long Beach, Sabo will therefore have the opportunity to evolve from his audience, which could give him additional motivation. “It’s close to home and it’s something he’s always wanted to do, explains Darren Law, program manager. And it's important for us, because it's a return to the roots of the era of American Le Mans Series! This is a fairly large project for a single race, but it shows the commitment we have shown to this effort. You have to sort things out for IMSA like electronics, series tracking and a different tire. »

No pressure

For this return, no pressure from Law, Sabo and Lee. The team's goal is not to achieve a big result upon their return, simply to gain experience. “Our goal is for this to be his first foray into IMSA, so it's about enjoying the race, going through it and finishing it, continues the 56-year-old American. If we get a good result, that’s an added bonus.”

After eight years of absence, come to Long Beach for Flying Lizard for a 100-minute sprint race where only the GTP and GTD categories will be present.
