After the 24 Hours of Daytona in January and the 12 Hours of Sebring in March, theIMSA prepares for his first sprint appointment of the exercise. And as usual in recent years, Long Beach will get the ball rolling on April 19 and 20.

On a route that it will share with theIndyCar throughout the weekend, the American championship expects a total of 27 cars. A reduced field compared to the first two outings of the year since only the GTP and GTD categories will be there. The LMP2s will resume competition at Watkins Glen (June 23) while the GTD Pros will return to Laguna Seca (May 12), just after Long Beach.

Porsche wants to double down, the comeback of Flying Lizard Motorsports

In the premier category, Porsche aims to retain its crown on Californian soil, a year after its first victory with the 963 thanks to Nick Tandy and Mathieu Jaminet on the No. 6.

In GTD, Paul Miller Racing will not be able to double the stake because the team no longer competes in this category. On the other hand, Paul Miller Racing will evolve there since it is making its comeback 8 years after its last appearance in IMSA. It was in March 2016 during the 12 Hours of Sebring. In Long Beach, the Sonoma structure will align a Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo No. 28. Elias Sabo and Andy Lee will be on duty.

Note that Stevan McAleer will take the place of Katherine Legge in the No. 3 Gradient Racing Acura NSX GT66. Announced at the Indy 500 (May 26) with Dale Coyne Racing, the Englishwoman will not finish the IMSA season.
