Mid-Ohio: de Ferran and Pagenaud on pole

Gil de Ferran was imperial on the Lexington circuit. Coming out ten minutes from the end of the qualifying session, which lasted only twenty minutes, the Brazilian set the benchmark times. While the cars in the LM P2 category had set the first significant times, David Brabham placed the No. 02 Acura ARX-9a (LM P1) at the forefront, with a time of 1:10:585, before dropping below the 70-second mark, in 1:09:512! It was after this supersonic time that Gil de Ferran began to set fast times: 1??11??142 then 1?10??265? The Brazilian was constantly getting closer to David Brabham's time, whom he managed to beat five minutes from the end of the session, in 1:09:499, before hammering home the point in 1:09:443. It is therefore a new pole for Gil de Ferran and simon pagenaud, who will aim to take a few more points from the Brabham/Sharp crew, still at the top of the LM P1 standings.

In LM P2, the Acura ARX-01B of Luis Diaz got the better of the Lola B09 86 Mazdas of Chris Dyson and Butch Leitzinger. Earlier, in GT2, Jorg Bergmeister only needed five laps to take pole, setting a very good time (1:21:022). He was ahead, as during free practice a few minutes earlier, of the Porsche 997 by Jaime Melo (1?21??287). Next came Jan Magnussen in the No. 6 Corvette C3.R, the GT2 version of which makes its first appearance this weekend, and Dirk Müller in the No. 3 BMW M92.
