Five years after its last edition, the Chinese Grand Prix made its grand return to the calendar. F1. Since 2019, the Middle Kingdom meeting has faced the health crisis linked to the coronavirus and numerous cancellations. 2024 therefore marked the return to normal in Shanghai where Max Verstappen imposed his rule there for the first time in his career, bringing his total to 58 victories.
106 Grands Prix contested since then, half for Verstappen
In this period of time, the pilot Red Bull changed dimension. The Austrian team has regained its splendor and the Dutchman has gone from competing for podiums and sometimes victories to being a steamroller who leaves only crumbs for his rivals.
The numbers speak for themselves. Since China in 2019, Max Verstappen has won three world titles and is off to a good start for his 4e by the end of the year. But beyond his coronations, the Batavian impressed with his striking force and the statistics are almost edifying.
Since the 2019 edition of the Chinese event, there have been 106 Grands Prix contested (including that of 2024). Of this quantity, Jos Verstappen's son won 53, or 50%! Further proof of his domination as well as that of Red Bull, far from over.
Regarding the 53 others, 10 drivers reached the highest step of the podium: Lewis Hamilton (28) Valtteri Bottas (6), Sergio Pérez (6), Charles Leclerc (5) Carlos Sainz (3) Sebastian Vettel (1) Esteban Ocon (1) Pierre Gasly (1) Daniel Ricciardo (1) and George Russell (1).
