This is the topic of the moment Formula 1. While the grid is more than ever split in two with five teams capable of fighting for podiums and the other half scrambling behind to pick up the crumbs, the FIA and the FOM have started to think about the possibility of widening the distribution points to F1 teams from 2025, in order to no longer allow the top 10 but the top 12 to score points.
The subject had been widely commented on by the main players in recent days, some being for it while others were rather against it. While the F1 Commission met this Thursday, April 25 in Geneva in view of the 2025 season, the change in scale was mentioned and discussed, but it was determined that “further analyzes regarding the proposed changes” were required, with further discussions planned for June.
CARhebdo understands that the new system would remain the same for the top seven (25-18-15-12-10-8-6) but would distribute 5-4-3-2-1 points from 8th to 12th place, instead of 4, 2 and 1 points distributed so far from 8th to 10th place. It was also decreed that a proposal for the date and locations for the 2025 pre-season tests will be presented by the FOM to the F1 Commission, and that the introduction of rear cameras on single-seaters from the Spanish Grand Prix was accepted.

While we're at it, why not give points to the 20 single-seaters!!

This is exactly my opinion! I even think that we should anticipate the arrival of an 11th and 12th team and provide a scale for 24 cars.
