Azcona the invincible

The Spaniard signs a perfect weekend in 100% electric tourism. The Hyundai driver won after seeing his opponents kneel down one after the other. He also owes his victory to the fact that Maxime Martin was unable to defend his chances in the final after Bruno Spengler's big trip in the final of his group.

Azcona the invincible

Bruno Spengler gave us a big scare in the group final Fast. We entered the second lap of the race, the Canadian's Guilia left the track at very high speed. He spun into the gravel trap, took off and crashed into the protective wall at the second turn of the Roman circuit. Good news, the former champion DTM emerged unscathed from this violent exit from the track. The consequences of this incident were that Maxime Martin, with whom he shared the car, was unable to participate in his Super Final. The Romeo Ferraris team was unable to repair the badly damaged car. A frustrating end to the weekend for the Belgian and his team.

Before this big scare, Martin was fighting to become the king of the weekend against Mikel Azcona (Hyundai Motorsport). The Spaniard scored the maximum 100 points in Vallelunga. He won all his heats as well as his super final. He pocketed this 5th round of the season ahead of Mattias Ekström, Tom Blomqvist and Adrien Tambay finished 4th. With 435 points, the Frenchman maintains the lead in the 100% electric touring car World Cup ahead of Mattias Ekström (421 points). This Italian round will be a landmark having been punctuated by numerous incidents following punctures of numerous competitors. The next time we will see the ETCR cars will be on the Sachsenring circuit on September 24 and 25.
