After returning to WRC this season, Hayden Paddon will look to another challenge in 2020, with the confirmation of a partial program in TCR New Zealand, the new championship launched next year.
As previously announced, the former official driver Hyundai Motorsport will race on an i30 N recently acquired by its PRG structure, and will take part in the first three rounds of the series.
“The TCR offers a balanced playing field between different cars and different drivers and its formula is proven, Paddon comments. Our team decided to get involved because we are trying to branch out and look at new horizons. »
Accustomed to rallying, the Kiwi driver will discover a new environment with the circuit, and will logically have to observe a discovery phase. “Our racing team is based at Highlands, so I've had the chance to drive different cars on the track, but never with other cars around me, so obviously there will be a lot to learn,” Paddon continued.
I'm really excited about this challenge. It's a chance to learn a new discipline of sport. I'm really looking forward to it. »
Hayden Paddon should have contested the Rally from Australia on weekends with M-Sport Ford, before it was canceled due to the severe fires ravaging regional New South Wales.
