Jean Karl Vernay first qualified in the semi-finals.

The Lyonnais delivered a very serious quarter-final to dominate the two Cupra e-TCRs of Blomqvist and Tambay. The Hyundai driver took full advantage of his pole position to continue his progress in this first round of the Electric Touring Car World Cup, contested in the streets of Pau.

Jean Karl Vernay first qualified in the semi-finals.

Jean Karl Vernay won his quarter-final with authority, he crossed the finish line more than two seconds ahead of the two EKS-Cupra drivers Tom Blomqvist and Adrien Tambay. The round was decided from the start and the raising of the barrier. Quicker to take off, Vernay found himself well in the lead at the station bend. Blomqvist is followed very closely by his teammate Tambay. During the three rounds of the quarter-final, Jean Karl Vernay spared no effort. He logically won and reached semi-final 1 alongside Blomqvist. Adrien Tambay, third, will start on pole for semi-final 2.

In the second quarter-final, Maxime Martin started from the front position ahead of Norbert Michelisz and Luca Filippi. At the start, the Belgian showed authority to keep Michelisz in check. The two men drove for a few meters door to door, but the winner of the 24 Spa 2020 Hours is in the lead in the climb of the Oscar bridge. Michelisz remains in the wake of the Italian car ready to pounce at the slightest opportunity. Maxime Martin will never leave the door ajar for the pilot Hyundai. Thanks to this victory, Martin moves into semi-final 1. The Belgian can be satisfied with this first victory: “I was careful to use my boost at the start to be sure to stay in the lead. I'm delighted for Romeo Ferraris, I'm moving on to semi-final 1 with big points up for grabs.”

The next quarter-final will be played at 20:10 p.m. at the start of the “night session” here in the streets of Pau.
