  • Rick Hendrick couldn't have asked for a better gift than a triple in Martinsville for his team's 40th spring. Maybe a quadruplet, because the more the better. But Alex Bowman was never able to join the fight for victory or the Top 3, remaining stuck at the back of the Top 10. At the front, it was the team's three other Chevrolet Camaro ZL1s, ready also with a red livery to mark the occasion who made the show, and in particular William Byron.
  • Winner of the last Daytona 500, the Charlotte native definitely likes to shine during big events concerning his employer. Last year he was the main protagonist of the 300e victory for Hendrick Motorsports at Texas Motor Speedway. This time he brought a 305e on the occasion of 40e Hendrick's birthday.
  • To emerge victorious, William Byron saw the race extended to overtime. Usually tense, these were more so this Sunday since the battle for first place concerned exclusively Rick Hendrick's team with the presence of Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott. It was therefore necessary to avoid the crisis and thus spoil the party. Bubba Wallace (23XI Racing) tried his luck but the three red Chevrolet Camaros did not give in. Larson and Elliott even acted as stoppers, fighting among themselves so that Byron could go solo to the delight of his boss.
  • « I am very proud of everyone who makes up Hendrick Motorsports, he said under the influence of emotion. I grew up being a fan of the institution. To be here, for the 40e birthday… Everything that happens in the stable, all the people… I want to thank Mr. Hendrick and (his wife) Linda, as well as everyone involved. It's quite impressive. It's great to win at Martinsville (2e times in his career for a total of 13 victories. Editor’s note). We had difficulties on the short tracks. We continued to progress. I have a great team. They allowed me to keep a cool head. It always sucks having to reroll at the end like this, but that's how it goes. » William Byron is definitely a driver you can count on during big events.
