Logano unchallenged in Michigan

Joey Logano (Ford) didn't let his opponents get in his way at Michigan. In a 400-mile race postponed to Monday due to rain, the Team Penske driver dominated the event with 163 out of 203 laps spent in the lead. The resident of the No. 22 Mustang still had to fight to protect his leading position during a final restart given in “overtime” after Erik Jones went off the track (Toyota) passed through the grass at turn 2.

“I can’t tell you everything I’ve learned, commented the winner when the specialized press asked him how he managed his restarts so well. My car was definitely very fast today and my mechanics did a great job. It’s amazing that the crowd stayed until Monday, it’s really fantastic to come to Michigan.

Joey Logano thus offered himself his second victory of the season, the 23rd of his career, and his 3rd on the two-mile oval. The Team Penske resident won ahead of Kurt Busch (Chevrolet) and Martin Truex Jr (Toyota), a podium where all three manufacturers were represented.
