Tarquini wins calm Race 1 at Aragon

The first race of the day in Aragon delivered its verdict. And it was the veteran of the field, Gabriele Tarquini who won race 1. He led a rather calm race at the wheel of his Hyundai. Starting from pole position following the reverse grid system, he never left the lead of the race.

Behind it is the Spanish driver Mikel Azcona who takes the second step of the podium in front of another veteran of the paddock, the Dutchman Tom Coronel. Fighting with Frenchman Nathanaël Berthon until the last lap, the Audi RS 3 team driver took the best to get on the podium.

In the rest of the peloton, the race was rather calm. No accident has been reported. Note that the Hondas undergo the new BoP (Balance of Performance) and finish far in the hierarchy.

The only retirement from race 1 was for Robert Huff, due to mechanical problems. Championship leader Jean-Karl Vernay finished 2nd.
The second race on Sunday can be followed from 13:00 p.m. on Eurosport.
