Bad day for Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz (Audi) on this seventh stage of the Dakar Rally 2024. The Spanish crew did not expect to lose so much time on their main rivals, Sébastien Loeb and Fabian Lurquin (Bahrain Raid Xtreme).

Indeed, the double world rally champion and three-time Dakar winner conceded 9 minutes to Sébastien Loeb, which reduced his advantage in the general classification to 19 minutes.

“It was a very complicated day, recognizes “El Matador”. The navigation was complicated and we had a puncture because there were a lot of stones. It was hard. And then, Sébastien (Loeb) did a very good job. »

Asked at the stop point of the stage about the state of the general classification, Carlos Sainz just laughed and declared: “Nine minutes is a long time. »
