Only ranked 18th on the evening of the first stage of the Dakar 2024, Sébastien Loeb (Bahrain Raid Xtreme) went into overdrive to move up the hierarchy in this second special, this Sunday January 7.

The Alsatian, well navigated by Belgian Fabian Lurquin, almost got the best time before Stéphane Peterhansel (Audi) beat him by a few seconds. That is not the most important point: the nine-time world rally champion WRC returns to the match for victory, with a 3rd position in the general classification, only 4’17” behind Carlos Sainz (Hear).

“Today was a great driving special in the dunes, with off-road, commented the Frenchman upon his arrival at the Al Duwadimi bivouac. It was not simple, but it had nothing to do with yesterday where the only goal was to preserve the car and the tires. Despite a few small navigation errors, we rode well. We had to overtake eight or nine cars. Is Peterhansel the winner? So much the better, we won't have to open the road tomorrow! »
