Dakar 2024 – Provisional classification Stage 9:

General classification :

  • The Dakar 2024 enters its final phase but Sébastien Loeb and Fabian Lurquin (Bahrain Raid Xtreme) do not take their foot off the accelerator. The Franco-Belgian duo recorded their 4th stage victory in this 46th edition and the 27th for the nine-time world rally champion on the rally-raid. He is only two points behind the number of special victories recorded by Jacky Ickx.
  • Setting off on a fast pace, Sébastien Loeb wanted to make up time on the leaders Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz (Audi). He is “only” 4’14” behind the Spanish crew. His delay in the general classification is therefore 20’33” before the last three stages.
  • At Audi, we applied extremely cautious tactics. Mattias Ekström and Stéphane Peterhansel, who started before Sainz, deliberately slowed down to ride together with their Madrid teammate. As a trio, the Audi RS Q e-tron hybrids had a quiet day.
  • The good point of the day comes from Mathieu Serradori and Loïc Minaudier. On their two-wheel drive Century CR6-T buggy, the French set the 3rd best time and consolidated 6th position in the general classification.
