The Qatari-French crew received the trophy which will be added to the imposing room of trophies for the pilot and his favorite navigator. Nasser Al-Attiyah took the opportunity to warmly thank his former employer, Akio Toyoda.

“We are part of the Toyota family, even if we have changed teams. Thank you very much for your support. Defending our title was not an easy thing to accomplish, commented Nasser Al-Attiyah. After the victory in the Dakar, we had a difficult time in Abu Dhabi, with an accident which forced us to retire. We were a little injured but fortunately we didn't give up and we won the following races. We have a lot work ! »

“Beating everyone on a Dakar is always a perilous task, continued his navigator Mathieu Baumel. Opening the track, winning a few stages, and remaining efficient for two weeks is hard! But we like it with Nasser. We do it with a lot of passion. This is perhaps one of the reasons why we obtain these types of results at the finish.

We spend more than 200 days together a year! The relationship between a driver and his co-driver is crucial in rally raid. Everyone needs to understand the other 100% in the car, and for us, it's easy since we are one. It's a bit like a wedding! »
