He is a great man in French motorsport who has left us. Pierre Tollemer died this Tuesday, September 12 at the age of 90. He was the co-founder, with his friend Michel Hommell, of the first rallycross in France, in Lohéac on September 5, 1976. The success was immediate, since more than 10 spectators attended this first edition. Nearly half a century later, the 000-meter track – which was bulldozed at the time – has become the biggest rallycross event in France.

Before that, Pierre Tollemer created Ecurie Bretagne in 1965, then he organized the Saint-Germain-sur-Ille hill climb for many years from 1969. Pierre Tollemer was at the head of the Lohéac Rallycross from 1976 to 1992 inclusive, creating the new circuit with his loyal team in 1986. From the 1993 edition, he handed over the organization to Patrick Germain.

Michel Hommell paid tribute to his friend via Ouest-France. “He’s a man I knew 50 years ago. He left his mark on the world of rallycross and motorsport in general. He was a team captain. »

CARhebdo extends its most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
