Loheac Rallycross: Loeb takes advantage of the moment

Sébastien Loeb enjoys the heart of the Mecca of French rallycross

Five years after his last appearance in Brittany, Sébastien Loeb quickly found the unique atmosphere of Rallycross of Lohéac with in particular the great Parade of pilots in the streets of Lohéac. Unsurprisingly, there were many spectators to “check out” the nine-time World Rally Champion or try to get a selfie or an autograph.

Sportingly, Loeb quickly found his feet on the Breton track to dominate the three free practice sessions before getting into the tough stuff with the qualifying heats.

“I have always kept great memories of my rallycross years (2016-2018, editor’s note). Of course, I have no pressure, but the objective is to win, I ride free and I enjoy the moment! As soon as you find yourself on a starting grid, you always want to come out in front of the first corner,” recognized the Alsatian pilot.

Winner of Q1, the driver of the i20 RX of Team PGRX was grilled by Fabien Pailler (208 RX) in the second qualifying heat. In the provisional ranking after the first two “qualifiers”, Loeb was in the lead ahead of Davy Jeanney. There’s a bit of a global feel!

The Sébastien Loeb-Davy Jeanney pair have already collaborated together during the official engagement of Peugeot in 2016.

Sébastien Loeb knows that the third and fourth qualifying rounds will be decisive for the final phases.

Already placed

With 140 cars at the start, Lohéac is the biggest event of the year in Rallycross.

Strong man of the Super1600, Julien Meunier (Fabia) dominated the first two qualifying rounds, just like Marceau Launay (Clio Rally5 RX) in the Junior Championship. As for the Coupes de France, Sébastien Le Ferrand (207) in Division 3, Tony Bardeau (Civic) in Division 4 and Chanel Launay (Twingo R1 RX) among the women mastered their subject.
