It's been nine years! Nine years since Hyundai participate in Rally from Finland without ever having won the event. It is now done with the authoritative victory ofOtt Tänak on the “Rally of 1000 Lakes”. “It’s a big day for Hyundai!” We finally did it in Finland after 9 years! Great driving from Ott, he was incredible all weekend”, declared Julien Moncet, director of the Korean team.

A victory that tastes like relief for Hyundai. Dominated by Toyota since the start of the season (only one victory in 7 events before Finland), plagued by reliability problems at each meeting, the team based in Alzenau finally experienced a clean weekend in Jyväskylä. Not perfect though, since Oliver Solberg only drove 200 meters on Friday before retiring in a big accident.

But the victory is enough for Hyundai to leave Finland with many reasons for satisfaction. “Ott also showed that we had a car that could win. We had no reliability issues all weekend. It's a great result for the team. It's even a double good result with the victory in WRC2 with Teemu Suninen. It's an incredible day for us. » In the other i20 N, Thierry Neuville was much more discreet. Arriving 5th more than two minutes behind, the Belgian was never on the pace but had no problems with his car.

In the championship, Hyundai is still far from Toyota, relegated to 88 points. But Julien Moncet's team will at least be able to boast of having defeated the Rovanperä team on home soil, in Finland.
