Andreas Mikkelsen beats Tänak

Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkswagen) takes his second victory after Catalonia in 2015 by winning the Rally from Poland after taking advantage of a punctureOtt Tänak (Ford) in the penultimate special. The Estonian was only able to salvage a second place by maintaining a lead of 2”3 over Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) which narrowly completes the podium.

The New Zealander only finished eight tenths ahead of his teammate Thierry Neuville who is ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala (Volkswagen) by less than five seconds. Sébastien Ogier (Volkswagen) took sixth place with less than seven seconds behind the Finn. The three-time world champion, who won the Power Stage ahead of his Finnish teammate and Thierry Neuville, leaves Poland with a lead of 51 points over the winner of the event.

Craig Breen (Citroën) took seventh place after taking advantage of an error by his teammate Stéphane Lefebvre who broke his rear wheel in SS19 but was still able to reach the finish in 12th place.

Mads Ostberg (Ford) took eighth place several minutes ahead of his teammate Éric Camilli who damaged his right rear wheel in the penultimate special. Teemu Suninen (Skoda Fabia R5) completes the top ten by winning in WRC2.
