Fireworks without finale in Croatia

In the troubled period that the WRC is going through, the duel between Elfyn Evans and Thierry Neuville was great publicity for the discipline. For three days, the battle raged with its twists and turns, its dramas and its moments of grace. Neither won, but in the middle of a busy weekend of motorsport, the WRC made a strong case for liveliness.

Since Croatia joined the World Cup calendar in 2021, all the editions have been notable. This coming a year after the disappearance of Craig Breen, it was not surprising to see to what extent the late Irish pilot is still very present in the minds of the members of the small community of WRC. From the memorial unveiled by the organizers at the scene of the accident in private tests, to the stickers on many cars, including the special decoration of Hyundai i20 official, the tributes were numerous. The best part was perhaps the fight that took place Thierry Neuville and Elfyn Evans. A battle that would certainly have pleased Craig.

Starting in first and second position respectively on the road, the Belgian and the Welshman were able to fully exploit their starting order. Throughout the first day, they shared the top two places.
