Returning to Hyundai, Ott Tänak certainly did not expect to have such a turbulent start to the season. If his teammate Thierry Neuville leads the championship after three rounds and with a victory in Monte-Carlo, the Estonian has one more setback.

At the foot of the podium during the Monaco classic, the 2019 world champion was then not finished in Sweden and Kenya. On the Swedish snow, he hit a wall of snow head-on, leaving it for the rest of the day after SS4. At the Safari, a broken suspension quickly put him out of the race. Two situations which demonstrate the difficulties he encounters in his return to the South Korean manufacturer.

In delicacy, the former of Toyota is desperately looking for answers to his questions while the next round of the campaign in Croatia (April 18-21) is already looming. Should he change his approach? Taking your time with the i20 after a break with the Ford Puma? The Estonian does not yet have the miracle solution but he is aware that he should focus on managing the pace.

« Our rhythm is closer to that of others, highlights-he. Croatia will be a rally completely different from Monte Carlo, so we'll see how we get on. The championship is only just beginning, but we need to get back to our normal rhythm."

For the moment, Ott Tänak is not sounding the alarm and is calling for calm. However, he will not be able to remain calm forever since in front, Thierry Neuville already has a 34-point lead. Although there have certainly only been three meetings, there will no longer be much room for error at the risk of seeing the Belgian take off.
