Michelin handed over to PSA on Monday March 9, 2009 Peugeot Citroën, the millionth Michelin Energy Saver tire with low fuel consumption, thus sealing a strategic partnership that unites the two groups.

With the Energy Saver tyre, launched exclusively and as a world first on the Peugeot 308 in 2007, Michelin succeeded not only in reducing fuel consumption, but also in providing a high level of grip and safety, while ensuring longevity. mileage at the best level on the market.

The technology implemented saves almost 0,2 l of fuel per 100 km in the combined cycle, or a reduction of almost 4 g of CO2 per km. This corresponds to approximately one tonne of CO2 not released into the atmosphere during the life of a vehicle. To reward this performance and this unique collaborative work between the two companies, PSA Peugeot Citroën awarded Michelin, in May 2006, the Innovation prize.

This tire technology is now widely deployed on many of the group's vehicles under both the Peugeot and Citroën brands.

For several years now, the PSA Peugeot Citroën group has engaged in a strategic partnership approach with a limited number of key partners, first and foremost Michelin. The aim is to share, deepen or develop new information or areas of work, very early on, in areas deemed priority by the manufacturer.

As part of this close collaboration, the PSA Peugeot Citroën and Michelin groups joined forces very early in the innovation program for the development of its new models. Engineers from both groups were thus able to improve the energy balance of the group's vehicles, thanks to the reduction of friction.
