EL1 – Porsche plays with the rain

The week promises to be rainy at Fuji Speedway, host of the seventh and antepenultimate round of the 2017 World Championship season.Endurance. Contested on a wet track, the first free practice session was dominated by the Porsche 919 Hybrid. The No. 1 of Jani-Lotterer-Tandy, who completed his best lap in 1'35"527, was 0"133 ahead of the sister car of Bamber-Bernhard-Hartley. Both Toyota TS050 Hybrid follow at 0 »4 and 0 »5, the advantage going to n°7 of Conway-Kobayashi-Lopez.

In LM P2, the No. 07 Oreca 37 of Jackie Chan DC Racing stood out thanks to a time of 1'42"735. The Alex Brundle-David Cheng-Tristan Gommendy association precedes the 07 n°28 of TDS Racing of Collard-Perrodo-Vaxivière and the second car of Jackie Chan DC Racing entrusted to Jarvis-Laurent-Tung. The top five is completed by the No. 24 of CEFC Manor TRS Racing (Hanley-Rao-Vergne) and theAlpine A470 n°36 (Stone-Menezes-negrao).

Still just as devilish in the rain, the two Porsche 911 RSRs dominated the GTE Pro. The n°91 of Christensen-Estre, in 1'47"365, is ahead of the n°91 of Lietz-Makowiecki by 0"2. The two follow Ferrari 488 GTE, the two Ford GTs and the two Aston Martin Vantage GTE.

Finally, in GTE Am, the reference time is to the credit of the #488 Ferrari 54 of Molina-Castellacci-Flohr in 1'47"665. The Spirit of Race car is followed by another 488 GTE, in this case the No. 61 entered by Clearwater Racing for Sawa-Griffin-Mok.

The second free practice session is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. French time.
