IMSA-EL3: Derani at the forefront

Luis Felipe Derani was the fastest in the final free practice session for the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen in IMSA Sportscar Championship. The Brazilian driver put his Ligier JS P2 – Honda – ESM in control of the session with a best lap completed in 1'35″484.

The young prodigy, winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, beat the Mazda of Jonathan Bomarito by more than three tenths while Oswaldo Negri Jr lifted the Ligier JS P2 of Michael Shank Racing into third position overall and the Protos category at 465 thousandths of the reference time.

In PC, CORE Autosport made an appointment for qualifying with the best time going to Colin Braun in the No. 09 Oreca FLM54. Richard Westbrook places the No. 67 Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT in the lead in GTLM ahead of the No. 6 Team RLL BMW M25 of Dirk Werner and the Ferrari 488 of the Risi Competizione, led by the Finn Toni Vilander. Tommy Milner's first Corvette C7.R took 6th place in the category, while the Porsche 911 RSR are further back, with Nick Tandy lifting the #911 into eighth position.

The best time in the GTD category went to the No. 8 Stevenson Motorsports Audi R9 LMS, entrusted to the Bell – Aschenbach duo.

Qualifying will begin at 21:40 p.m. French time.
