Jarvis and Mazda at the forefront in testing

Oliver Jarvis was the most energetic of the first day of driving at Laguna Seca in IMSA. The driver of the #24 Mazda RT77-P completed his best lap yesterday during FP2 in 1'15"692, when Pipo Derani and Felipe Nasr (Cadillac DPi-VR #31 – Action Express Racing) dominated FP1 in 1’15″851.

The Acura ARX-05 n°6 – Acura Team Penske of Montoya – Cameron, beaten by 185 thousandths in EL2 and the tandem Jonathan Bomarito and Harry Tincknell (Mazda RT24-P n°55) follow in the aggregate of the two sessions.

Note that contact occurred between Helio Castroneves (Acura ARX-05 n°7) and Felipe Nasr at the start of FP2, two weeks after the collision at Petit Le Mans between Derani and Ricky Taylor.

In GTLM, the No. 8 Corvette C3.R of Garcia – J. Taylor set the best time in the two free practice sessions, first ahead of the two Porsche 911 RSR of Tandy – Makowiecki and Vanthoor – Bamber, then in front of the BMW M8 of the Spengler – De Phillippi tandem.

BMW also dominated the day in GTD with the M6 ​​GT3 – Turner Motorsport from Auberlen – Foley.
