For his return to competition in the United States, Kévin Estre finished in third position in the Michelin GT Challange alongside Cooper MacNeil in the Porsche 911 RSR – 19 from WeatherTech Racing. The Frenchman even took advantage of a restart after a safety car to overtake the two Corvettes and take the lead of the race. Unfortunately for the Lyonnais, his duel with Nick Tandy ended on the grass and the Lyonnais saw his hopes of victory disappear a few minutes later when he went off the track. “We were lucky with the yellow flag which helped us and allowed us to get back to the Corvettes, Estre said after the race. I think we had a better pace than them. I had some doors slamming with Nick (Tandy) on the restart, which was useless because I had already passed him. I also managed to overtake number 3, then Nick pushed hard behind me again. I came back to P2 and lost time in traffic, then pushed too hard trying to get back. I made a mistake at Oak Tree and hit the barrier. I was able to come back but it was too late (to overtake Antonio Garcia in slow motion in the final moments, Editor’s note). It's a shame. »
