Whelen Engineering aims for victory at Laguna Seca

Building on his last two victories at Watkins Glen and Road America, Whelen Engineering is hoping to make the pass of three this weekend at Laguna Seca. The crew made up of Pipo Derani and Felipe Nasr returns to a circuit where they have often performed. Over the last 5 editions, car no. 31 has been on the podium 4 times. 

But this year, the team hopes to achieve victory: “Laguna Seca is a fantastic place to ride,” admits Pipo Derani. I won the race in 2018 and finished 3rd with Whelen Racing the last two years. I hope we win our 3rd race of the season. »  His teammate Felipe Nasr is in the same state of mind: “We have just won two races. We of course want to add a third in a row. We were on the podium the last two years, but we hope to be on the top step. »

A victory would allow the Nasr-Derani crew to move closer to the championship. The two Brazilian drivers are 2nd, 41 points behind the leader. A place also occupied by the Whelen Engineering team in the manufacturer's ranking.
